One of the few hotel restaurants taking part in this year’s Restaurant Month is Anchor & Den at the Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort.
I have always admired the Marriott for encouraging Cayman residents to attend their monthly foodie events even though it means mixing with their overseas guests.
Anchor & Den’s globally inspired menu has always been a favourite of mine, and I knew that they would have a delicious menu for Restaurant Month 2022.
This October they are serving a 3-course dinner featuring some of their signature dishes for just CI$45. Even though your choices are limited, they made sure to include at least one vegetarian item per course. To start, you can order the fresh Tuna Tartar in a smooth avocado sauce with capers, shitake oil and parsley, or opt for the creamy Burrata Salad on a bed of spicy arugula, roasted beets, pickled fennel and cherry tomatoes.
For your main course you can have the vegetarian Pad Thai, Grilled Octopus with a parsnip purée and chimichurri or the Braised Short Rib with a rich pumpkin purée and crispy wild rice.
The desserts are fantastic and included a Salted Caramel Ice Cream Jar that requires cracking the chocolate shell in order to dive in, and a fruit-forward Passion Crémeux which was expertly plated with pieces of mango jelly, cookie crumble and meringue all around.
Along with their top-notch service and creative cocktails Anchor & Den is a worthwhile destination to visit this Restaurant Month.
