Owners Alan & Laura Silverman have turned a once barren space into a miniature food truck park called The Hive. Not only does it have multiple food concepts to please any palate, but it offers a screened in seated area with a large bar and servers to take care of your every need. Before you even ask, I’ll tell you the answer is “yes”, you can order items from any and every concept in the vicinity. Don’t expect coursed out meals, as your order will be dropped to your table as soon as it’s ready. So, what do they have to offer at The Hive?
Good Mood Food Co. should be familiar as it was originally stationed at this location when it was just an empty lot. They’re known for serving up some seriously delicious junk food including their Sweet & Spicy Fried Chicken Sandwich, Battered Cheese Curds & The Everything Burger.
Powerplant was activated in 2022 and brings a plant-based menu that’ll cater to anyone who has a vegan and vegetarian diet. I love that they have dishes that are green and clean like the Pad Thai Noodle Lettuce Wraps, whereas on the other side you can find plant-based cheat day eats like their deep-fried Buffalo Cauliflower Bites and Sloppy Jack[fruit] Sandwich. Another perk with Powerplant is that a lot of items are also gluten-free for those of you with an allergy.
Boss BBQ is technically not a food truck and it’s the only other solid structure on-site. This concept serves items straight out of their BBQ pit – whole snapper, smoked chicken, jerk pork & brisket – with a selection of sides. You can also order sandwiches, nachos, and southern-style desserts if you’re looking for other Tex Mex plates.
That traditional idea of walking up to a food truck and standing up to wait for your food is no more, thanks to destinations like The Hive. You’ll find them adjacent to The Strand complex with their colourful food trucks ready to serve you from 4pm daily.
