Pedro St James and the Tourism Attraction Board (TAB) will be hosting the seventh annual Coco Fest on Saturday 26 February 2022 at Pedro St James. The fun starts at noon until 6pm.
Beginning in 2016, Coco Fest was created to celebrate the Cayman coconut and preserve its ties to Caymanian heritage. The festival also highlights the local cottage industry and is about remembering a time when harvesting coconuts was vital in Cayman.
Coco Fest also supports the ‘shop local’ ethos by creating a space for small businesses to showcase and sell their artwork, traditional foods and products made from coconut oil, or some part of the coconut plant.
The Director of the TAB Patrick Thompson, shared that the festival is “…another outlet for entrepreneurs to promote and sell their locally made products but emphasising the precious coconut fruit.”
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s staging of Coco Fest will be a scaled-down version of the annual festival.
The festival’s main sponsor is Fidelity Bank Cayman Ltd.
Visitors to Coco Fest can look forward to local foods, candies, produce, games, and beauty products. The Visual Arts Society will also host an arts and crafts corner. Plus, live entertainment will include One World Entertainment, Little Magic and Pan n’ Riddim steel band.
Coco Fest vendors include:
